How to write a quote that wins the job

Winning more work often comes down to how you quote. A clear, fast, professional quote signals you're organised and trustworthy — a vague one sent days late does the opposite.

Here's a simple, repeatable approach.

1. Capture the job clearly

Before pricing, write down exactly what's included — and what isn't. Scope creep starts with a fuzzy quote.

2. Itemise the work

Break the job into lines: description, quantity, unit price, amount. Customers trust a quote they can read and understand. Not sure of the structure? Start from our free quote template.

3. Price with confidence

Cover your materials, labour and a fair margin. If you're registered for GST, make it clear your prices include GST.

4. Add an expiry

A "valid until" date protects you from honouring old prices and gently nudges the customer to decide.

5. Make it easy to say yes

Send the quote as a link the customer can confirm in one tap — not a document they have to print, sign and scan. Every extra step is a chance to lose them.

6. Turn the yes into a paid invoice

Once they accept, don't rebuild everything from scratch. A confirmed quote should become a proper tax invoice with your ABN and GST, ready to send. BookQuo does exactly this — quote → booking → tax invoice, in one flow.
